Fredric W.H. Myers, founder of the Society for Psychical Research coined the term "Telepathy" from the Greek terms tele ("distant") and patheia ("feeling") in 1882.
Although psychical research is still ongoing, researchers view this communication as a way of conveying ideas, feelings, thoughts, sensations and mental images. Some people view telepathy and clairvoyance as two separate things, while others feel it is the same phenomena just working in two different ways. Some tribal societies accept this as just a human faculty while others think it an ability of just certain people. We personally, believe that all people have the ability of telepathy, but it takes a good understanding of what it is, having an open mind and understanding energy and vibration. There are two forms of telepathy, the first being “Latent” wherein one person can communicate spontaneously with another, and “Precognitive”, knowing something before it happens.
Some parapsychologits theorize that quantum physics may have a play in this ability. The study of electromagnetic radiation and monitoring for synchronous EEG (brain wave) patterns is still an ongoing study. Thoughout the centuries, more psychologists and psychiatrists started seeing this phenomena in their patients. Sigmund Fraud noticed it so often that he “termed it a regressive, primitive faculty that was lost in the course of evolution, but which still had the ability to manifest itself under certain conditions.”
In 1885, the American Society for Psychical Research was founded. The subject of telepathy became the first psychic phenomenon to be studied scientifically. By putting a “sender” in one room and a “receiver” in another room, the “sender” would try to transmit a two digit number, a visual image or a specific taste. Mathematical chance was added to the test by a French Physiologist. Distance and obstacles do not seem to be a factor. Similar to other forms of psychic phenomena, telepathy is difficult to test in a research lab, as it is illusive and both parties must be at the same wave length (alpha) and closely connected. Although there is enough evidence to reasonably substantiate its existence, the problem lies within quantifying it.
World War I created an increase in attention to telepathy as the bereaved turned toward Spiritualism and their need to attempt to communicate with their dead loved ones. It was at this time that both Britain and the United States took a real interest in this phenomena.
What has been found out through studies is that telepathy seems to take place when both people involved are in the “alpha” state. One’s emotional state is also a large factor and studies show that more women are better then men in receiving. It is thought that one explanation may be that women are more in tune with their emotions and more apt to listen to their intuition. As the body ages and the senses become impaired, telepathy becomes fairly common. I would surmise that is because the body has slowed down and allows the older body to enter the alpha state more often. Most telepathy occurs in a crisis situation wherein a loved one may have been seriously inured or killed. It has also been noted that some individuals sense danger, and this information comes to them in thoughts, visions, dreams, or mental images. Incidents involving humans and animals has also been observed. Just recently a dog walked seven miles to lay on the grave of it’s owner, and when Lord Carnavon died (the man behind the King Tut expedition), his dog let out a loud and long cry at the exact moment of his death.
For whatever reason, caffeine seems to have a positive effect on telepathy. It can also be induced in the dream state as it appears to be related to some biological factors. It has been shown through electroencephalogram monitoring that the brain waves of the recipient change to match those of the sender, as does the blood volume change.
Visualization is also a very strong tool in learning to use your telepathic abilities.
